The Onyx Plate informed us via Facebook that today is National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day!
I bet I know what I’m eating today, moohaha.
I bet Gigi will also decide she wants a PB&J at some point.
Last night, I resisted having a PB&J; I had already eaten almost the entire pan of Gigi’s dressing, along with a lot of the potato salad, so I thought that a PB&J on top of that might be just a little excessive.
Dressing and potato salad typically would be understood to be more of a “holiday season” set of foods, but we do eat them year around. Since yesterday was Palm Sunday, that all worked out beautifully!
My next big experiment with dressing will be to add jalapeños. Last night, I took the Jalapeño potato chips, crushed them up, added them to a bowl of dressing, and the flavor was amazing.
Ooo, now that I think about it, maybe jalapeño cheese biscuits would also be delectable. But my poor hands…I’ll have to be very careful and add already chopped peppers to the batter after all is said and done, aieee!
Cheese and spiciness go together surprisingly well, such as in the famous “Jalapeño Poppers” that’s cream cheese stuffed in peppers and then deep fried. There’s definitely a strange sense of satisfaction I get in eating something that’s hot and torturing my mouth; I’m really not sure how to explain it other than a sense of accomplishment, like I just battled a whole cave of dragons in my mouth.
Now, it’s time for me to finish my tea, and for you guys? It’s time for you to get your nosh on!
